Opera Daily 🎶 — Welcome and What To Expect

Our first official email will go out on Sunday morning, but we wanted to say hi and thank you again for being a subscriber.

While this is a short month, we are going to try to pack it with great stuff. You can expect to hear from us every Sunday on the month's theme. January is Rossini month, and this Sunday's listening guide is kicking us off with some well-known (and some lesser-known) opera buffa (comic opera).

To get you into the swing of things, here is a short interview with mezzo soprano Marilyn Horne from 1985 discussing Rossini and one of his operas, L'italiana in Algeri. You will hear more L'italiana and Marilyn Horne on Sunday.

Here’s a quick schedule for this short month:

• Sunday, January 17th: Intro to Rossini with a focus on opera buffa

• Sunday, January 24th: Rossini’s later works with a focus on opera seria

• Sunday, January 31st: Listening session with Michele and Heather where we talk Rossini, break it all down and wrap up the month

Given it’s the first official month, we wanted to over communicate what’s in store.

Moving forward, you can expect to get all the details you need on the first Sunday of each month.
