Thank you. Fantastic. I hope I find a person in my life to share performances like his with me but in live theatre.

For me the star of this opera was always the great soprano, Natalie Dessay! Such a powerhouse - a french dynamo!!🤩🙏🏼♥️

Brownlee was good but nobody did it better than Pavarotti.

Once watched an interview with Pavarotti in which he talked about tenors of previous generations and their affect/influence on subsequent generations. For him Caruso, Gigli, and Scipa were pre-eminent. He specifically mentioned how Caruso changed what was possible for a tenor by carrying his chest voice very high in his head voice. I've wondered sometimes if Pavarotti thought of himself in that way when he used his very large instrument in the Bel Canto repertoire as he did early in his career, often opposite Sutherland (who was herself noted for carrying up into her highest registers a full sound we are unlikely ever to hear again in Bel Canto - La Stupenda for a reason). But are we not fortunate that recording technology lets us enjoy so many superior singers? Brownlee, Florez, Blake, Merritt, Pavarotti, not to mention Sutherland , Dessay, Moffo, Sills, Gruberova. An embarassment of riches, to our benefit.
