After Maria and Giuseppe. DiStefano had begun their ill fated tour they included the Kennedy Center. Because their reviews were bad, I opted out and did not hear her. Later at LaScala I asked members of the Chorus about Maria and they spoke well of her in Milan. Her Paris Opera (1965) recital was rebroadcast of All Arts channel recently. Callas sang aria's from Rossini to Bellini and Verdi. All riveting, focused and unforgettable. A triumph and tragedy for us still in Century 21.
LaScala presented a VISCONTI all'opera (2006) film honoring Callas and director Luchino Visconti (1906-76) that I saw in Milan. It was quite good with a live orchestra as a tribute to them both.
